How do I find a book in the library?

The books in the library are shelved according to Library of Congress classification.  You can peruse this guide from Cal State University, Northridge to learn more about LOC classification and call numbers.

  • The books are shelved from left to right, top to bottom in the individual book shelf bays.
  • You'll see overall subject headings along the tops of the bookshelves.
  • The Library has several specific collections such as Nursing and Reference. These collections are shelved separately and will have labels on the shelves.

If you need help locating a book, ask one of the Library staff!  If there is a book you need and we don't have it, ask one of the Library staff!  We will do our best to get the book via Interlibrary loan (ILL).  Thank you!
