How do I get a library card?

Answer

Students, faculty, and staff of RCC may access library materials and services using their RCC ID. They may also access our digital resources remotely using their MyRCC login credentials. Your RCC ID serves as your library card.

If you wish to receive a separate library card, you must present a valid Virginia DMV issued ID for us to process your request. A separate library card will allow you to access resources offered through Richmond County Public Library, such as OverDrive and hoopla.

All library patrons, including Rappahannock Community College students, faculty, and staff, are required to present a valid picture ID to obtain a library card. If such identification is unavailable, two pieces of mail with your name and current address may be used instead.

If a patron is under 16, a guardian with a picture ID must be present in order for a library card to be issued to the underage patron. The guardian’s license information will be entered into the account. The guardian is ultimately responsible for any debts which are incurred on the account, until the underage patron reaches the age of 18 years old.

Your library card or ID is expected to be presented to check-out materials. If your library card is unavailable or lost, you will be asked to present a valid picture ID in order to check out materials. If an ID is not available, you may be denied your library privileges.
