Buying or Renting books

Buying or Renting books I'm a new student, and I'm not sure about my booklist. The one provided online shows a few ebooks for some of my classes and I would like to know if that's because the professor preference or because that is what is available. Should I try getting regular books for these classes?

Answer

Did you go to this Bookstore "Get Your Textbooks" webpage to choose your classes according to your schedule of classes?

Go to https://www.bkstr.com/swccstore/shop/textbooks-and-course-materials

For example, if your schedule has the class HIS 121 W1, you will use the Textbook lookup to search for:

Term Spring 2021 Department HIS  Course 121  Section W1

You will see there are two required books for the class - your Rebel digital textbook (only digital option) and the novel Red Badge of Courage that you can buy a print copy (either used or new) at the bookstore OR a digital copy you can read online; you can choose the option of print or digital in this case--whichever you prefer to read.

Go ahead and search for all of your classes by department, course and section (see your schedule of classes for these details). If you are given options for your other classes, you can probably decide if you want to use a print (new or used or rental) book or a digital (online) version. If you are only given one choice, that is likely the preferred choice of the instructor.

If you are still not sure about the options, you can contact the SWCC bookstore for information about your books for your classes. The bookstore is now closed for the Thanksgiving holiday, but you can call them next week if you need further assistance at 276-963-3627.

Please let me know if this was helpful after you have searched for each of your classes' textbooks.

Thank you for using our SWCC Library Ask a Librarian email service.
